Opinion about an article

Well it really wasn't an article, but more of someone else's opinion that was expressed in a nudist forum. I found it to be very insightful and intriguing I will let people read it for themselves, then I will explain, so the message doesn't become jaded via misunderstanding.

"Instead of trying to attract more nudists we should be making nudity so commonplace that nudism won't be necessary any more. I'd love to see nudism as we know it become extinct.

Nudists keep trying to own positive nudity but obviously it's not working. That is why when you go to a nude beach you will find that very many people there don't consider themselves nudists at all. We need to stop thinking that there is something wrong with that.

They resent nudists telling them how they should be nude socially and it's showing in the number of people who belong to organizations. AANR has been losing membership for at least 5 years now. And it's estimated that perhaps only 2% of "nudists" belong to AANR to begin with. Most people who enjoy nudity do not go to our clubs and probably never will.

Let us push nude art, streaking, events like the World Naked Bike Rides and Bay to Breakers.

We also need to stop criticizing people who don't "do" nudity exactly like you do. I'm so tired of seeing people refer to "true nudists". Positive nudity belongs to everyone, not just those who follow the exact same rules you do."

They are clearly expressing that there should be social nudism, but are going against the norms of the culture. What I like about it is that it goes with my theory on why younger people aren't really keen on joining in nudist culture, nudist culture simply isn't growing with the society around it. Now I support groups that encourage social nudism, but I believe we should get away from the labels of what a naturist or a nudist is because it tends to exclude people simply because they aren't meeting the standards of others, or prevent people from joining a group in fear of not being apart of the group because they don't consider themselves to be nudists either.

I still support a reinvention of the culture. The next question is how does one reinvent a culture?
